blue screen of death with no letters, numbers, codes or anything?!?

Posted by on Thursday, 28 August, 2008

My laptop (about a year and a half old) has recently started popping the BSOD at me. It’s happened twice now and I’m getting worried. I’m running Windows Vista Business, 512MB memory (yeah, I know it’s slow, but I haven’t had any other problems so far with that) and recently I haven’t installed any new hardware or programs. When it crashes, it has usually been sitting just on, with the screen popped down, then I go get a glass of water or something and I come back and it’s crashed. When it crashes, it’s just stuck on this plain, blue screen, but there are no letters, numbers, words, anything. Just plain and blue. When I restart the computer and look under the Problem reports and solutions, my computer affirms, yep, it’s a BSOD. But I can’t figure out what’s causing problems. Here’s the stuff that I learned from the control pannel. Help please!

Look, I know 512 MB is almost no memory, but seriously, it’s been fine now for a year and a half. I even run huge enourmous programs with ease. And by the way, my laptop came with 1Gb of memory but one of the slots died. Not my fault and I can’t do anything about it right now. so are there any ways to fix a BLUE SCREEN!?
I run Symantec every day and did a chkdsk/f in the command prompt and it said there were no problems with the file system.

You cant expect Vista to run on 512mb of ram. No wonder its playing up. You need 2gig of ram at least
